This webinar is part of a new series of free events created from listening closely to our Spanish-speaking community.
Through a dedicated survey, clinicians shared not only the challenges they face in daily practice, but also who they most wanted to learn from and the topics they wished to explore in greater depth.
We carefully reviewed their responses and reached out to the speakers who received the most requests — and this session is part of our response to what they asked for.
Infidelity in Context: Clinical Understanding and Intervention
This seminar addresses infidelity from a contextual perspective. It offers a clinical understanding of the relational trajectory that leads to the breakdown of trust and examines the impact this crisis has on self-esteem, emotional security, and the couple’s bond. Clear criteria are proposed to help determine whether to repair the relationship or separate without additional harm.
The seminar also presents tools identified by recent research as especially useful for containing escalation, understanding the process, and reducing unproductive guilt. In addition, strategies for rebuilding trust, managing obsessive thinking, and reaching agreements and commitment when partners decide to continue are reviewed. Finally, frequent mistakes that can prolong the wound — and how to prevent them in therapy — are discussed.
