Karen Magruder, DSW, LCSW-S
Karen Magruder, DSW, LCSW-S is an associate professor of practice at the University of Texas at Arlington School of Social Work, where she brings a broad background in aging, mental health, and environmental justice to the classroom.
A dedicated and award-winning educator, including the 2024 Award for Outstanding Contributions to Social Work Education, Karen is passionate about integrating evidence-based and innovative techniques to promote student success in online learning. Her current primary focus is leveraging AI to enhance teaching and learning.
Dr. Magruder manages a small private therapy practice, provides clinical supervision, and maintains a free social work education resources YouTube channel with thousands of subscribers and over half a million views.
She also published a popular ASWB exam study guide for visual learners and provides tutoring for the ASWB exams. Dr. Magruder earned her Doctor of Social Work (DSW) degree at the University of Kentucky specializing in social work education.
